Significant Changes in NEET UG 2024 Toppers:

The number of top scorers has decreased from 61 to 17 in this revised result. This adjustment means that the spotlight on top achievers has narrowed significantly. Thousands of other candidates have also experienced notable shifts in their marks and rankings.

NEET UG 2024 Candidate Statistics:

This year saw a record number of registrations for NEET UG 2024. Out of 2,406,079 registered candidates, 2,333,297 appeared for the NEET UG exam. Of these, 1,315,853 candidates are qualified.

NEET UG Qualifying Marks Increased:

The qualifying marks for NEET UG 2024 have risen compared to last year. For the unreserved category, the qualifying range increased from 720–137 in 2023 to 720–162 this year. Similarly, the qualifying marks for OBC, SC, and ST categories rose from 136–107 to 163–127.

Information on 15% All India Quota Seats:

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) will oversee the counselling for 15% of All India Quota Seats, as well as seats in Deemed Universities, Central Universities, ESIC, AFMC, BHU, and AMU. Candidates should visit mcc.nic.in for detailed information and updates. Counselling for these seats will end once all available seats are filled

State Quota Seats:

For seats allocated under the state quota, candidates must apply through their domicile states. Each state will prepare a merit list based on All India Rank according to local rules. The respective state authorities will also conduct counselling for private medical colleges. Candidates should stay in touch with their state’s counselling authorities for more details.

NEET UG exam 2024 Tie-Breaking Criteria:

If multiple candidates achieve the same marks or percentile scores, they will determine the inter-se merit as follows:

  • Higher Marks in Biology: Preference will be given to the candidate with higher marks or 
  • percentile scores in biology (Botany & Zoology).
  • Higher Marks in Chemistry: If still tied, the candidate with higher marks or percentile scores in Chemistry will be preferred.
  • Higher Marks in Physics: Next, the candidate with higher marks or percentile scores in Physics will be considered.
  • Fewer Incorrect Answers: The candidate with a lower proportion of incorrect answers across all subjects will have an advantage.
  • Fewer Incorrect Answers in Biology: If needed, the candidate with fewer incorrect answers in biology will be prioritized.
  • Fewer Incorrect Answers in Chemistry: The same applies to chemistry.
  • Fewer Incorrect Answers in Physics: Lastly, the candidate with fewer incorrect answers in Physics will be favored.
  • Application Number: In the rare case of a tie remaining, candidates will be ranked based on their application numbers in ascending order.
