NEET 2024 Round 1: MCC Announces Resignation Process

Resignation Opportunity for State Counselling NEET Candidates:

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has officially opened the resignation process for candidates allotted seats in NEET 2024 Round 1 counselling.

From August 31, 2024, at 2:00 PM, candidates can resign from their allotted seats without forfeiting their security deposit. The resignation window will remain open until September 3, 2024, at 6:00 PM.

Candidates who were allotted seats through state counselling but wish to resign from their NEET 2024 Round 1 seats allotted through MCC now have a designated window to do so.

This opportunity allows candidates to exit their current allotment and participate in Round 2 of the counselling process.

Key Points About the Resignation Process:

  • Resignation Window: The resignation process started on August 31, 2024, and will continue until September 3, 2024, at 6:00 PM.
  • Security Deposit: Candidates who resign within this period will not lose their security deposit.
  • Round 2 Eligibility: After resignation, candidates will still be eligible to participate in Round 2 of the NEET UG 2024 counselling.

Why Some Candidates Might Choose to Resign:

Several factors may prompt a candidate to resign from their NEET 2024 Round 1 allotment:

  • Preference for a Different College or Course: After the initial allotment, candidates might find that they prefer a different college or course option available in subsequent rounds.
  • State Quota vs. All India Quota: Some candidates might receive a more favorable seat under the state quota. Compared to what they were allotted in the All India Quota (AIQ) during NEET 2024 Round 1.
  • Strategic Planning: Candidates might want to wait for Round 2 in hopes of securing a seat in a more prestigious institution or a preferred location.

Important Notice for NEET Candidates:

The MCC emphasizes that candidates must generate their resignation letter through the portal provided by their allotted college.

If candidates fail to generate the official resignation letter, the MCC will consider their resignation ‘Null & Void’ and will not recognize it. To avoid any issues and maintain eligibility for subsequent rounds of NEET 2024 Round 1 counselling. Candidates must follow the instructions carefully.
